Pulse Perfection Mascara Review: Is it as good as they say it is?
Makeup Beauty - Eyes

Pulse Perfection Mascara by Maybelline is vibrating mascara. That’s right, vibrating!  The wand is by Define-A-Lash, which is great for women with smaller lids and lashes.  The wand can reach the small corners effortlessly.  The vibrating function gives 7,000 vibrations in 7 synchronized actions.  It seems to separate the lashes quickly and effortlessly.

Pulse Perfection Mascara is perfect for people with straight lashes that are hard to curl or lengthen.  Two coats seems to be the consensus for what it takes for these short straight lashes to have super length, as well as some curl.

Pulse Perfection Mascara – Clumping Factor

Pulse Perfection Mascara claims “Zero Clumping.”  In most cases, clumping was not an issue.  Most people agreed there was “zero clumping” on the first coat.  There were some conflicting reviews on the second coat.  Most who tried a second coat did not see clumping or there was minimal clumping.  For those who applied a third coat or more, there seemed to be some clumping.

Pulse Perfection Mascara – Vibrating Factor

While the majority of users liked the product overall, the vibrating action seemed to cause some problems.  While the end result ends up being fabulous lashes, applying Pulse Perfection Mascara takes some getting used to.  Some say that when you put the mascara to your eyes and press the vibration button, it tickles and makes you want to blink right away.  However, others say that you do not actually feel the pulsating action near your eye.  Once you remove it from your eye, you can feel it vibrating between your fingers.

The vibrating action may not be the right choice for people with sensitive eyes, as it can well up your eyes.  Pulse Perfection Mascara may not be a good choice for anyone with arthritis in the hands.  In order to get the vibration to work, you need to pinch it pretty hard.  However, the mascara has good reviews even when the vibration function is not used.  The Define-A-Lash brush seems to be a favorite for many.

How to Apply Pulse Perfection Mascara

  1. Remove prior mascara.
  2. Do not pump the wand in and out as this allows excess air into the tube and can dry out your mascara.
  3. Place the wand at the base of your eyelashes.
  4. Wiggle the wand left to right.
  5. Close your eyes and apply mascara to the top of your lashes. (Optional) This tends to open up your eyes.
  6. Apply to the bottom lashes.  Tip:  Place a handkerchief or baby wipe underneath them.  This helps to prevent streaks.

Pulse Perfection – Is it as good as they say it is?

To answer the question, “Is it as good as they say it is?”  The answer really depends on your individual experience.  While some say $15 for mascara is expensive, others say this is a low price for vibrating mascara.  While some say it does not give the coverage they expected, others say it gives amazing results.

While there are many different opinions as to whether the Pulse Perfection Mascara is as good as they say it is, overall it does what they say it will do.   For that first and second application, it is generally clump-free.  It separates the lashes and builds lash volume, length, and curl, as well.   It is also safe for contact lenses and is waterproof.

Pulse Perfection Mascara takes some getting used to, but overall is a fun and effective addition to your makeup regimen.
