Facial at Home: How to give yourself a Relaxing Facial
Perfect Skin - Pamper Yourself

A facial at home can truly be an amazing experience.  A facial at home does more than just pamper your skin.  It can literally relax your mind and body, too.   The best thing about a facial at home is you can reap the benefits of a spa right in the comfort of your own home.  Even better, you can enjoy a relaxing facial as often as you like, as you will not be slammed with those outrageous costs a spa charges.

Facial at Home Step #1 - Preparation

Preparing is very important in giving yourself a “relaxing” facial at home.  You do not want to have to search for something once you get started.  Gather all the supplies you will need.  These supplies are:

  • 2 slices of cucumber or freshly steeped tea bags
  • Relaxing music
  • A place to relax and lie down while mask is working its magic
  • Headband and hair tie
  • Washcloth
  • Basic facial cleanser
  • Eye makeup remover
  • Facial exfoliator
  • Damp hot towel (the key to a true spa experience at home)
  • Aromatherapy spray or essential oils
  • Mask for your skin type
  • Clean small paintbrush
  • Moisturizer
  • Aroma therapy candles

If your hair is long, tie it all back.  Hold stray hair and bangs out of your face with a headband.  Start the music and light the candles.  Set up the candles around the area you will be relaxing while your mask is working its miracles.

Facial at Home Step #2 - Cleanse

With a basic facial cleanser placed on a washcloth and warm water, make circular motions. Use eye makeup remover to remove any eye makeup.  Rinse all cleansers off of your face.

Facial at Home Step #3 - Exfoliate

Just apply a nickel sized drop of facial exfoliator and begin to gently exfoliate your skin.  Do not exfoliate too close to your eyes.  Pay close attention to your neck and chest.  These areas are overlooked many times, but they show skin blemishes and signs of aging just as much as your face does.  Rinse your face clean.

Facial at Home Step #4 - Open Pores ( The Ultimate Spa Experience from  Home )

One of the best things about going to the spa is the hot damp towels.  These make the facial at home an ultimate spa experience.  Those hot damp towels work wonders when it comes to creating a relaxing facial at home.  The hot damp towels not only make the facial at home a relaxing experience, they also are a productive contribution to your facial.  Hot damp towels will open up your pores.

To apply the hot damp towel, put the middle of the towel on your chin and wrap the ends up and around your face.  Leave a small opening by your nose so you can breathe.  This is where you will spray a couple of squirts of aromatherapy spray in the air or put a couple of drops of essential oils on your towel for that added spa affect.

Keep a bucket full of hot water so you can have a full supply of warm damp towels throughout your facial.

Facial at Home Step #5 - Apply your Mask

Find a mask that is best for your skin type.  Apply it with a paintbrush or your fingers.  The paintbrush will add to the spa experience.  Apply a good amount of the mask to all the areas of your face, neck, and chest.  Be sure not to get it in your eyes.  Allow mask to sit for ten minutes.  (See step six BEFORE rinsing off mask).

Facial at Home Step #6 – Pamper your Eyes

Before you rinse off your mask, apply the cucumber slices or tea bags on your eyes.  Relax and enjoy your music while you wait.

Facial at Home Step #7 – Rinse Mask

With a warm wet towel, wipe off the mask.  Pay attention to the areas around your hair line and your nose.

Facial at Home Step #8 – Moisturize

Apply your moisturizer.  This is the perfect time to give yourself a much deserved facial massage.  Don’t forget your temples.

A facial at home can be the ultimate spa experience.
